The media lies

Here I am again, posting from the great culinary county of the UK. The popular myth that the Brits have terrible food is just plain wrong. Everything is so delicious. I have put on 10 pounds in a week.

My mission, aside from eating and drink copious amounts of beers in pubs, has been to talk to the man on the street about their perceptions of Bush and we Americans. Not a scientific poll by any means, but the ones I've had conversations with think Bush has been doing a good job. Surprise that. Also, they seem to be rational and realize that all the complaining in the world is not going to change the truth of the matter; we are in Iraq, need to stay in Iraq until the job is done and to pull out would be a sin of high order. I have not set out to interview only conservatives, it's been more coincendental than anything. Even the taxi driver made a point to tell me that he thinks Bush is a good bloke doing the best with what he has to work with. He also brought up the shame of the judiciary making up their own laws as they go along, damn the Constitution.

The only negative response was today on the train from Cardiff to London, two citizens of Singapore, an educated in America mid-aged couple, who heeled to the medias portrail of Bush as buffoon.

One more thing, the Brits only get 6 or 8 tv channels so they are insulated from our p0p pap crap. They get news, BBC style. Those I've talked to are as jaded about the media as I am. All lies all the time, all negative, constantly repeated, respun, yada yada.

Carry on.
